Abstract

The relevance of the stated subject of this scientific research lies in the importance of the problem of preserving and protecting the user's personal data on the Internet, in the context of ensuring their confidentiality and the impossibility of transferring them to third parties without the permission of the user themselves. The major objective of this scientific research is to study the possibilities of ensuring the security and confidentiality of the user's personal data on the Internet nowadays. The basis of the methodological approach in this research work is a combination of methods of systemic analysis of the general principles of ensuring the security of personal data on the Internet with a comprehensive study of modern trends in the development of information technologies that are able to qualitatively provide the protection of confidential user information. In the course of this research, results were obtained indicating that there are significant security threats to the user's confidential data on the Internet at present and the need to find opportunities to effectively counter these threats. The possibilities of managing the privacy settings of user data in the major social media were considered, which made it possible to develop an effective algorithm for providing the security of personal data posted in the profile of a particular network. It has been established that the practical solution to the problems of ensuring the security and confidentiality of personal data primarily depends on the user themselves, since they manage passwords when registering on websites, grant permission or prohibit the exploitation of personal data or collection of information on the network, accept specific privacy solutions, etc. Also, a survey of the average Internet user was conducted on various aspects of security and confidentiality of personal data. The results of the survey clearly demonstrate the list of aspects of user security on the Internet. The practical significance of the results obtained in this research lies in the possibility of their application in the development of methods for providing information security and confidentiality of user's personal data on the Internet.
